The Potty Poem
So I’m not quite sure why I feel the need to share this here but I do!
Last year on the 4th of July we decided to have a party at our new place. The yard is huge and we can fit a lot of people so we thought we’d invite the whole church and a few other friends thinking that some wouldn’t come etc.
Well, everyone said they were coming! Eeeeek!
This being an older house in the country with a whole new system of well water and septic we were a little worried about how our 3 little potties were going to handle all that flushing for 150 people all day long. I’ve never had to deal with septic issues and I knew that occasionally the downstairs potty had, um, issues, after a certain someone used the facilities. I was worried we’d be knee deep in sewage by the end of the day.
Calls to the local “Purple Potty People” (yes that’s their real name) - the fancy outhouse folks were ignored - it was July 4 after all so we decided to be proactive without having to make any major announcements about flushing and stuff to the whole crowd.
Daughter #1 and I got our thinking caps on and came up with the following poem, which we then printed out on some cute printer paper and placed strategically in each bathroom. Here it is:
It’s time to go potty
and who would have thought
there’d be a fun poem
about sitting on the pot.Our toilet is special
All we ask you to do
Please flush him quite often
if you go “number two”Regarding the paper
please think “less is more”
or it might explode
all over the floorAs far as the door
it will close but not lock
so please use the door sign
to avoid a big shockSo thank you for visiting
Our humble abode
And for taking good care
of our lovely commode!
Not bad huh? It got some good laughs and we didn’t have any problems at all that day, thankfully!

I love your daughter’s poem!
We’re not on septic, but our 2 loo’s occasionally backup ~they haven’t exploded yet, but you never know…. Do you mind if I do up a couple of copies of it for ours?

[...] On a totally unrelated subject, unless your guinea pigs are toilet trained, I read The Potty Poem, on Quiet Mom’s blog earlier today and just had to share it here. It’s wonderful! [...]
