  1. HMMM…I am a little confused. Has the pastor not read about the Proverb Woman. She was a keeper of the home and a work at home mom as well. I am often confused when people say that women don’t really have much of a role in the Church.

I don’t consider myself to be an Evangelical Christian but I am a Bible Believing Child of God. I think that when we truly take the time to read the context of a scripture (meaning what comes before and what comes after), then we can gain a better understanding of what God is really saying. Men often take the Word to mean what they want it to without truly seeking God for revelation of what it really says. Many women miss out on their purpose as a result.

The Pastor said that women are keepers of the home and while this is true, being keepers of the home does not mean you can’t do more; especially when God has called you to do such.

About 10 years ago I had a dream that I was speaking in front of a group of women about the goodness of God. About 3 years ago I dreamed that I was speaking at a church about the natural health message.

Am I not to follow what I know came from God?

  2. I think if you listen to all of his work, not just this brief interview, you’ll find that he definitely feels that women have a strong role in the church but that the bible supports the keeper at home role as the primary one. And looking at the totality of scripture you’ll find that men, not women, are the ones in leadership roles.

Does that mean you couldn’t speak to women about the goodness of God or speak to your church about natural health? Of course not. However I agree with him that one would be very hard pressed make an argument using the bible that supports a woman as head of home, church or government.

The lady in the segment referenced the verses in Ephesians about husbands loving their wives… very true although I’m not sure how the point she tried to make had relevance to the verses in Isaiah that Dr. Baucham mentioned about women rulers being used as God’s judgement on the land. Regardless, she must have missed the verses right above that one that say:

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.”

Like I said above, after I watched the interview I was speechless even though I had 10,000,000 thoughts running through my head. I’m hoping to add to the post later this evening if time allows.

  3. I have to applaud the Reverend though for staying true to Scripture rather than changing his beliefs to fit today’s culture.

  4. Oh I do like what I have heard from him and the woman definitely misinterpreted the verses she used. I did not agree with her either.

Please don’t take me wrong, I am not a feminist, but I am very real with where the world is today. I did not want to grow up and become a single mom but I did due to my own sin and for ten years I had to live as the leader of my home. Of course none of it were possible without the grace of God.

I will be the first to admit that yes I do have issues with men as the head of my home but goodness I have come so far. Having grown up in the home where I was raised by a woman, I did not take much stock in men in the home because all I saw around me was men abusing in one way or another. So I grew up with trust issues when it comes to men and guess what I carried it right into my marriage, unknowingly because I thought I have worked through it.

I am not knocking what he said but I think I would like to have seen him elaborate. Yet, I know time was limited.

Dr. Baucham had a great post on his blog this week that touches more on this topic:
